One Fallout 4 fan uses the Settlement creation tools in Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG to recreate Columbia, the floating city from BioShock Infinite .
YouTuber and talented Fallout 4 player Girl Plays Game thought that the Brotherhood of Steel’s Prydwen airship needed some competition in the skies, so she decided to customize a Settlementas a refashioned version of the floating city Columbia from Irrational Games’ BioShock Infinite . The creation is superbly crafted, as it manages to blend the best of both dystopian worlds with posters nodding to various Vim & Vigor abilities, power armor standees reminiscent of Big Daddy diving suits, and references to the underwater city of Rapture.
Not only is Girl Plays Game’sColumbia Settlement a perfect mini-encapsulation of all that can be found in BioShock Infinite , but she also went the extra mile for added authenticity and used the character creation systemto make a nearly impeccable recreation of the former’s protagonist, Booker DeWitt. Truly, the only thing missing to make her achievement feel complete is an appearance from Elizabeth.
While Girl Plays Game’s salute to Columbia seen in the video below is objectively beautiful , Fallout 4 ‘s Settlement tools can only do so much, so she had to utilize a boatload of mods in order to bring the homage to life. So, alongside Frankenburger’s Realism Reshade, Wasteland Build-a-Bear, Ploppable Houses, Craftable Bobblehead Displays, Business Settlements, Lovers Luxury Bed, Lore Friendly Posters, Colored Workshop Lights, Note Racks, she even made one herself called Bioshock Paintings that adds a bevy of canvas illustrations from Irrational Games’ series into Fallout 4 .
Of course, ever since Fallout 4 released last November, there have been plenty of gorgeous and intricately made in-game communities put together by players. For instance, one fan built a massive Star Wars -inspired AT-AT Settlementthat was roughly to scale of the walkers seen in the film franchise. Then, another person spent their spare time constructing one of the largest encampments ever made in the game with the final product being a giant fortress. However, neither those or any other Settlement seen yet is able to touch the whimsy and winsomeness of Girl Plays Game’s latest production.
Obviously, Girl Plays Game’s has set the bar pretty high as far as Fallout 4 Settlements go, but with the inventiveness of Bethesda fans knowing no bounds, we’ll probably be privy to something equally, if not more impressive in the coming days. If anything, maybe she’ll even be able to top her most recent work of art soon enough with a tip of the hat to another video game franchise.
Fallout 4 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
