There’s about a month and half left to go before Fallout 4 drops and hits fans like a nuclear payload, and gamers around the world are ready to bathe in its radiative glory.
drops and hits fans like a nuclear payload, and gamers around the world are ready to bathe in its radiative glory. While Bethesda has remained somewhat tight-lipped over some of the action-RPG’s content – developers said there will be no more story details released before launch– the studio has been kind enough to give fans a general idea of what the future holds for the post-apocalyptic title after it’s available. For instance, not only has Bethesda promised a Season Pass and expansion materials for the game, but they’ve also assured everyone that the DLC will not be platform exclusive.
While the wait forcontinues, the hype carries on in full force, as Bethesda has now released the fourth installment in its seven part promotional video series highlighting the game’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat system. So far, the company has covered the first three letters with “S” for Strength, “P” for Perception, and “E” for Endurance, and each have given fans a run down of the kind of gameplay that can be expected should players utilize the attributes properly.
Today’s Vault-Tec footage centers solely on “C” for Charisma. As the footage below shows, the character stat is important for Wastelanders who wish to influence non-playable characters (NPCs) with words and demeanor. Should players find themselves in dangerous situations, a high Charisma can sometimes allow for a better chance at a diplomatic resolution with dialogue. Plus, as in previous titles, if the personality-driven statistic is concentrated on, then Vault Dwellers become more adept with bartering.
Building up Charisma will also help gain the trust of NPCs and creatures for favors and help on quests, or it can be used for intimidation tactics. As it happens, several days ago, Bethesda gave fans an in-depth look at Fallout 4 ‘s character creation systemwith a lengthy blog post, and during its overview in a video, director Todd Howard revealed a brand new perk that falls underneath the Charisma stat tree called Intimidation. Should players choose to make the perk a priority, they will be able to point their weapon toward NPCs and creatures and direct their actions in almost any way imaginable by using threats for coercion.
Is Charisma one of your favorite characteristics to focus on developing in the Fallout games? If so, is it because you enjoy non-violent playthroughsor because you like having better bartering skills? If Charisma is a trait that you don’t care for, which S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute do you beef up instead?
Fallout 4 is set to release on November 10, 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
