In a surprising turn of events, 2014 and 2015 have turned out to be renaissance years for the painfully difficult game genre .
followed in the steps of thefranchise and won gamers over with its complicated boss fights and fragile protagonist. Although Bloodborne very much felt like a spiritual successor to Dark Souls 2, the game did exist in its own universe. The combat and dark setting of Bloodborne helped scratch the Dark Souls itch, but that hasn’t stopped fans of the From Software franchise from begging for another installment in the series.
Dark Souls 2 launched just over a year ago ( and is still working out its bugs), so fans shouldn’t be expecting another installment anytime too soon. Three years passed between the original Dark Souls and the sequel and that seems like a safe estimate for the timeline to develop Dark Souls 3 , as well. According to a new unconfirmed report, however, gamers might hear the first official details about that currently unannounced sequel at E3 2015.
VG247 reports that a source has told the site about Namco’s plans to officially announce Dark Souls 3 at E3 2015. The report goes on to claim that Dark Souls and Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki will once again be in charge of the project. Miyazaki is the creator who most gamers associate with the franchise, even though he moved away from the director role during the well-received Dark Souls 2 .
The source doesn’t know which specific E3 presentation the announcement will be a part of, but assumes that it will arrive Monday evening during the Sony conference. No details about the game were included in the leak, so although an announcement seems very likely, we are unable to confirm the reports at this time.
