franchise can finally rejoice – the series is set to travel to the current generation. Like most games revealed at E3 2015this year, the now-announcedtitle has opted to forgo any subtitles and keep a simplistic name. The game was revealed at Sony’s E3 Press Conferencevia a cinematic trailer, which followed Agent 47 eliminating several targets in a variety of ways. Published by Square Enix, this will be the first major Hitman title sinceand the first one on current generation platforms.

The game was actually leaked an hour prior to its unveiling at the Sony Conference, when Steam’s European store accidentally published the game’s page. They were only posted for a brief minute or so, but as any gamer knows, that’s long enough for the page to be archived forever. After conversion, it looks like the game was posted with a $45 retail price, though we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from IO Interactive in regards to the final price. IO Interactive later confirmed the game would release on December 8th, 2015.

Sony’s own Asad Qizilbash has dubbed this the ‘most ambitious Hitman ever created’, and promises that players will travel to each continent as they pick up various contracts all around the globe. Throughout the game, players will uncover a massive worldwide conspiracy that runs all the way out to the highest echelons of the world’s elite. As befitting such targets, Agent 47 will travel to several exotic locations, which – if the trailer ends up being an indication – will include fashion shows and a hotel with a guest connected to a Moroccan bank scandal.

Players will once again be backed by handler Diana Burnwood, the longtime series regular who has appeared in no less than five previous Hitman titles. She’ll be no stranger to Agent 47, who has taken numerous contracts in tandem with her and the International Contract Agency.

Those who pre-order the game on PlayStation 4 will receive six exclusive contracts within the first year of the game’s launch, as well as exclusive access to the Hitman beta when it opens. Thus far, Sony hasn’t stated when the beta will be available for gamers to access.

Hitman will launch on December 8th, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
