Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle Arrives to Keep Law and Order

The truck, which is an F-150 XL SuperCrew or SuperCab, comes powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which makes 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Fordhas released a new F-150 Special Service Vehicle meant for police forces that want a pickup.

Inside, the carpeting is stripped out and replaced with easy-to-clean vinyl flooring while the rear seat is swapped out for a vinyl bench seat, also to ensure easy cleanup. A high-output 240-amp alternator is added to accommodate extended idle times, while the center section of the front bench seat is removed to allow space for customized accessories.

This new F-150 joins Ford’s existing family of police vehicles that includes the Transit Prisoner Transport, the Police Interceptor Sedan based on the Ford Taurus, the Police Interceptor Utility based on the Explorer and the massive Expedition Special Service Vehicle.

“We offer a whole family of police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, Ford chief program engineer for police vehicles. “Our lineup aims to fulfill the unique needs of law enforcement officers, and our F-150 Special Service Vehicle is an extension of that offering. This vehicle definitely lives up to its Built Ford Tough reputation.”
