First-gen Dodge Viper pops up on Lego Ideas

First-gen Dodge Viper pops up on Lego Ideas

It's a good day, with plenty of sunshine.

Yesterday, all your automotive troubles seemed so far away. Today, though, you have car stuff big and small to get excited about. Case in point is this first-generation Dodge Viper that we've found on the Lego Ideas page. All it needs is the love of 10,000 people and it can move on to the review phase, and then possibly become an actual Lego set.

The project is the skilled handy work of user BenPSmith1977 who uploaded his creation for review. It's an excellent attempt to create a miniature version of a curvy vehicle using square building blocks. The exterior is solid, but the under hood space and interior compartment are where the Lego Viper really shines. The attention to detail in those spaces is excellent.

Lego has created an amazing place for skilled block builders to upload their creations. Here, others can view the various cars, boats, spaceships, movie characters, and set pieces that have all been submitted. From there, if a creation gets 10,000 support button clicks, it moves on to review by the Lego team. After that, if it gets a final thumbs up, it will be made into an actual kit that goes on sale. The builder gets credit as the creator and even receives royalties from the sale. It's an amazing program that benefits both the Lego community and the brand itself.

So if you like this Viper kit, head over to its Lego Ideas page, and all you need is to love it. Show it some support and hopefully it makes the jump to the review process. Come on people, come together over this one. Let it be one of the ones that makes the leap.

Japanese Video Game Market Is At A 24-Year Low

Japanese Video Game Market Is At A 24-Year Low

Japan is a country synonymous with video games.

image description

Japan is a country synonymous with video games. After all, it was Nintendothat started the resurgence of video games in the 1980s after the collapse of the market. Since then, Sonyhas also helped push the world of video games forward, with its immensely popular PlayStation consoles. The PS2 sold over 150 million units worldwide, and was only discontinued in December of 2012.

Unfortunately, there has been a definite drop in console sales from the nation that helped rebuild the entire industry. Nintendo’s latest home console, the Wii U, has faced notorious sales problems, with only slight consolidation through a recent growth in units sold. Sony’s recent offering, the PS4, has sold well in the US. However, sales have been slow in its home nation after an initial boomof 300,000 units sold in two days.

In fact, there has been a dramatic drop in sales for video game consoles in Japan across the board. A recent post from Japanese gaming publication Famitsu reveals that the console and software market in Japan has dropped to levels not seen in over 20 years. The sales figures are the lowest since 1990, as shown in this chart courtesy of NeoGaf .

Japanese Market Console Sales

Japanese Market Console Sales

The switch to handheld devices can also be seen in the 2014 console sales figures. Although handheld consoles have always sold well in Japan, 2014 saw the 3DS sell over triple the amount of it’s closest home console rival, with over 3 million units sold. In fact, the PS Vita also beat out any home consoles to the second spot with 1.1 million. The PS4 sold 925,000 units, beating the Wii U, which sold just over 600,000.

There could be a silver lining, though. Sony has announced that the PS4 has sold an impressive 18.5 million units worldwidesince its launch in November 2014, meaning the console can be considered anything other than a failure. A number of high-profile Japanese titles are also yet to release for the console, with the likes of Bloodborne and Final Fantasy XV and to release this year. In fact, Final Fantasy XV’s co-director Hajime Tabata has even suggested that the Japanese console market’s future could hinge on the success of Square Enix’ title.

What do you make of the news? Do you think this signals a definitive turn from console gaming, or can traditional video games recover against the smart phone and tablet market? Let us know in the comments.

We heard the Bugatti Chiron start cold; someone received a very big speeding ticket in a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS; and we spied the 2017 Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake. It's The Week in Reverse, right here on Motor Authority.

The Lexus RX is a wildly popular luxury crossover SUV, and it's one of the Japanese automaker's best-selling vehicles. This year it receives an aggressive update with a bold design, new safety tech, and refined feel. Is it the best RX yet? The Car Connection slid behind the wheelto find out in a latest video road test.

We've seenthe new 1,490-horsepower Bugatti Chiron, and we've even heard it. Now we've had the chance to hear it start cold. That sound is intoxicating, but perhaps it's more important to note that it sounds far more brutal than the Veyron ever did.

BMW issueda recall and stop-sale on the new 2016 7-Series flagship sedan due to an issue with the airbag control module. Notably, the control module wasn't manufactured by Takata—it was made by another leading supplier, Continental.

We knew the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS was fast (it was just one of the reasons it was named Motor Authority Best Car To Buy 2016) and now we have an idea of just how fast it is. A Minnesota man was pulled overafter being clocked at an incredible 171 mph on Highway 61 north of Duluth, Minnesota.

Fans of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo concept are rejoicing—with good reason—as our spy photographers caught a late-stage prototype of a Panamera Shooting Brakehitting the track. The general shape looks virtually identical to what we saw on the concept, which is a very good thing.

The new 2017 Lincoln Continental flagship sedan has been priced from $45,485. While that number is higher than the outgoing MKS it replaces, it's lower than competitors including the Cadillac CTS and CT6.

Everyone wants that Pro Touring look right? That's certainly what the folks at SpeedKore Performance in Wisconsin think, and they're quite good at crafting precious metal mixed with massively powerful engines. Car and Driver caught wind on one such machine. It's a 1970 Dodge Charger that's been reworked, reimagined and reignited thanks to tremendous style and power.

ALSO SEE: Devel’s 12.3-Liter Quad-Turbo V-16 Dynoed At 4,515 Horsepower: Video

The car is called Tantrum, and its body has been reworked so that it's both clearly a Charger and clearly custom. It's wearing the standard restomod bits like oversized wheels and big brakes. It's also packing a nearly nuclear option under the hood.

SpeedKore took a twin-turbocharged 9.0-liter Mercury Marine racing engine and jammed it in the nose of the car. It's pumping out 1,650 horsepower, and it sends that power to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual and limited-slip rear differential. The rear rubber being used here? Michelin-sourced 345-series tires that probably are just enough to provide some grip and forward momentum when the throttle is mashed.

Want to see the car in person? It will be apparently be making an appearance at the Grand National Roadster Show next month. Get your ass to Pomona because this car must be seen in person to be believed.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you’ll know that the first in a new trilogy of Star Wars movies is coming to theaters on December 18. In celebration of the new movie, entitled Star Wars: The Force Awakens , Dodge has released its own Star Wars-themed ad.

The ad recreates the famous imperial march of earlier movies, but instead of actual soldiers the march is made up of Dodge’s full lineup. Leading it all is a Dodge Viper ACR, which looks very sinister in its black paint scheme.

Of course, Dodge isn’t the first automaker to channel Star Wars in one its ads. Volkswagen enjoyed some success with its original The Force ad for Super Bowl XLV. It then followed up with The Bark Side a year later, but this one fizzled.

GR Pick: Destiny Cosplayer Creates Awesome Exo Hunter

GR Pick: Destiny Cosplayer Creates Awesome Exo Hunter

In the world of cosplay, nothing is off limits.

image description

In the world of cosplay, nothing is off limits. From TV to movies to anime to video games, the skilled cosplayers of the world have shown that they can take any creation and bring it to life with a little design know-how.

And while it’s hard to label just one video game as the go-to franchise for cosplay, League of Legends has been a hugely popular source of inspiration. Just walk the halls of any major gaming event, like this month’s Gamescom for example, and you’re likely to see lavish costumes built to r epresent the heroes of League in all their glory.

However, although League of Legends is king when it comes to video game cosplay, many talented designers have begun looking to Destiny for their latest costume ideas. We’ve already detailed one Destiny cosplayer’s stunning Warlock costume– complete with Thorn replica– but this latest one is a little heavier on the design side. See, rather than go for a human-like Destiny guardian design, this cosplayer, who goes by the name Fred Props, chose to create an Exo Hunter.

As readers can see in the gallery below, Fred Props’ Exo Hunter perfectly captures the design of Bungie’s robotic race. From the glowing blue eyes to the Exo’s shard-like skin, the cosplay Hunter’s costume is unlike anything we’ve seen thus far. Admittedly, there have been some Destiny cosplays that are stunning in terms of their armor detail – arguably better than what Fred Props put together – but it’s all about that Exo faceplate.

In addition to that, Fred Props created an awesome replica of Destiny ’s Ghost that’s higher in quality than the “Ghost” included with the Collector’s Edition of Destiny . In fact, the cosplayer is hoping to gift his Ghost replica to the Bungie devs at Gamescom 2015 this week. Bungie will, of course, be at Gamescom showing off Destiny: The Taken King , the first major expansion for the MMO/FPS hybrid and the beginning of year 2 for players.

What do you think of Fred Props’ Exo Hunter cosplay? Do you think Destiny lends itself well to cosplay?

Behind the Cosplay: Azellius’ ‘League of Legends’ Tempest Jana

Behind the Cosplay: Azellius’ ‘League of Legends’ Tempest Jana

Anybody who has ever attended a gaming or comic convention knows that the world of cosplay is no joke.

image description

is no joke. Cosplayers spend countless hours planning and building insane costumes every year, just to parade them out during convention season and show them off. Unless you’re a part of the scene, you might not realize just how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into every project. We sat down with one of our favorite cosplayers this week to chat about the work that went into her League and Legends and Diablo 3 projects.

Can you give us a quick summary of your cosplay history? How’d you get into the scene, how long have you been active?

“I think it’s something that I’ve always been interested in, but it wasn’t until I got into college and met some people doing it that I actually took the plunge. I’m not even sure if I can classify my first “outing” as a cosplay, I threw some stuff together and did a Lady Vader back in 2012. I had fun though, and got a good look at what other people were producing, asked a lot of questions, and thought ‘yeah, I really need to do this right!’.”

It looks like you’ve been doing a lot of work on your Tempest Janna project. Can you talk a bit about what made you want to tackle this project? What about the character drew you in?

“Ah yes, Tempest Janna. I had just gotten back from Supercon down in Miami… over 4th of July weekend… wearing the demon hunter cosplay. I’m pretty sure I nearly died that weekend, parts are hazy. Putting traumatic repressed memories aside momentarily, many things occurred to me that weekend. For example, as character who spent some time in the netherworld fighting fiery demons, the demon hunter had surprisingly not been a choice bit of attire to brave the Miami summer. I had decided to start a new project, with perhaps a renewed outlook on the advantages of not wearing 5 layers of leather and craft foam. Around the same time, my boyfriend and I had been getting pretty into duo queuing bot lane together in League of Legends . The skin had come on sale, I had fallen in love, and the rest is history!”

“This was a project full of firsts for me. It’s been incredibly frustrating and educational trying to finally accomplish this cosplay. This was my first time making armor with Worbla, and I only have one burn scar… so far! In fact, this was my first time using automotive primer, Bondo, silicone molds, resin casts, and a whole lot of other stuff. I’m a kinetic learner, so the only way I really get a handle on stuff is by getting my hands on it and going for it. I messed up a lot, but I learned a lot. You really just have to take every little thing in stride. I had been pushing to try and get this cosplay ready for a specific convention, and nearly drove myself mad trying to do it. Instead, I’ve learned now to just sit back and enjoy the experience. It’ll be done when it’s done, and I’ll be proud of the finished product.”

How much of a financial and time investment is this Janna project? How does it compare to your other projects in terms of cost and time?

“Because of all the reasons I listed in the above question, this one has been expensive, I’m not going to lie. It’s amazing how much more efficient you are after you’ve worked with a material for a bit. I would say I’ve easily spent twice as much money on this project and maybe quadruple the amount of time as anything I’ve done before. In the end, I think it’s really taken on a life of its own, and even if no one else can appreciate it, I will have learned so much from it that it will all be worth it.”

What show do you plan to debut this cosplay at? Do you have a tour of cons lined up for the rest of the year?

“Right now, I’m gearing up for Megacon. I’ll bring my Inara cosplay and I’ll be doing a Popstar League of Legends group cosplay with several friends of mine. I’m a HUGE Firefly fan so I’m pretty pumped to get some autographs! As for the rest of the year, Janna will most likely mosey out of my labyrinth for Metrocon and Supercon. I also love Holiday Matsuri, it’s just a really fun smaller convention that just feels so warm and friendly, I’ll be going back to it for sure again this year. We have yet to get a hotel room for Dragoncon (much to my dismay), so I’m not sure of the status on that venture yet.”

One of our favorite cosplays is your take on the Diablo 3 Demon Hunter. Can you talk about the work that went into that project and your motivation for tackling it?

“The demon hunter was the project that I decided to do after I went to my first major convention and got a good look at what other people were producing. I mained a demon hunter all the way through Diablo 3 , had loved the character and the artwork associated with it. It seemed a natural choice for me at the time. I just kind of sat down one day, looked at my boyfriend, and said “This. This is what I want to do next.” So I did it. Rather poorly. It was pretty much glued together and the first time I wore it to Megacon, it hadn’t even been sealed, I just slapped paint on it. It evolved quite a bit between Megacon and Supercon. It now just sits on a mannequin in my room, it’s almost too fragile to wear out anymore. There’s a nostalgic part of me that wants to remake it knowing everything I know now…”

You should go for it! What games have you been playing lately? Are they inspiring any upcoming projects once Janna is a wrap?

“So I’m still pretty much a League of Legends fiend, and if you aren’t playing URF Mode right now, you’re missing out on life. Aside from LoL , I’ve been going through Torchlight 2 again and checking out all of the mods people have released for that, it’s almost like a whole new game, it’s a ton of fun. I FINALLY finished all of the Borderlands 2 DLC, I wholeheartedly recommend the Tiny Tina Assault on Dragon Keep. I’m now starting on the Presequal, playing a Guardian, and loving it. I’ve also gotten back into a really awesome Dungeons and Dragons group, which has inspired me to dress up like a Tiefling and run around lighting things on fire. But that’s totally normal, right? All joking aside, I’m not sure what I’ll be up to after Janna. Sometimes a project just grabs you by the ankle and drags you kicking and screaming to some new depth of cosplay madness. I anxiously await the journey.”

We’d be in full support of that Tielfing project. Just don’t burn any venues down. Where can our readers see more of your projects and follow your progress?

“My Facebook pageis where I like to publicly flaunt all of my weird little successes and failures at cosplay. I love talking to people about whatever they may be working on and exchanging methods and ideas. Come at me bro!”

What do you think of Azellius’ projects? Do you think you’d have the patience to master Worbla to get a realistic costume together? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Special thanks to Azellius for chatting with us and to all of the photographers who provided photos of her previous projects.

Take one part  heavily modified 1970 Dodge Charger and add in one part massively massaged Mercury Marine racing engine and you wind up throwing one hell of a Tantrum. In fact, that's this car's name. It's the Dodge Charger Tantrum, and it's the product of SpeedKore Performance out of Wisconsin. The folks from the shop trekked to Los Angeles to present their monster machine to Jay Leno.

MUST WATCH: Danica Patrick Goes Undercover As Lyft Driver: Video

Under the carbon fiber hood and betwixt the carbon fiber fenders sits a 9.0-liter Mercury Marine racing engine. It's aided in the breathing department by a pair of turbochargers, and it's ready to crank out 1,650 horsepower. All of that go-juice is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec T56 six-speed manual gearbox.

Jay and the guys from SpeedKore go over every nut and bolt of this wild beast. The car even gets sent up on the lift before heading outdoors for some gas-burning fun. A car like this deserves to display its prowess with a big meaty burnout, but Leno doesn't seem that interested in romping on an undoubtedly expensive machine with so much power. So, he lets the SpeedKore engine builder give it a quick bit of boot at the end of the clip.

The motto at Hennessey Performance must be something along the lines of: "There's no such thing as too much power." From Vipers and Corvettes to Raptors and the Venom GT, Hennessey will slap on turbos, superchargers, or whatever else you can afford to give you more power. The latest creation? A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with 1,032 horsepower.

ALSO SEE: Hellcat Vs. Hellcat: Tires Shredded, Faces Melted, Internet Broken

We're pretty sure no one will argue that Hellcats are lacking in the power department, but that didn't stop Hennessey from working up a turbo upgrade kit for those feeling the need for more speed. Dubbed the HPE1000 Twin Turbo package, it adds a twin turbo system that includes twin ball-bearing turbochargers, a high-flow air-to-water intercooler system, stainless steel turbo headers and downpipes, dual turbo wastegates, turbo inlet tubing with dual blow-off valves, upgraded high-flow fuel injectors, an upgraded fuel pump and fuel system, and a long list of other items to make sure the car won't up when all that power is used. Total pounds per square inch of boost isn't available, but all this works in conjunction with the factory supercharger that produces 15 psi of boost of its own.

This all adds up to 1,032 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 987 pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm. Performance is mind bending for a vehicle weighing more than two tons, with 0-60 mph taking just 2.7 seconds and the quarter mile flying by in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph.

Don't need that much power but still want more than the factory setup? The HPE800 and HPE850 packages are still available, and they up the output to 800 and 850 horsepower, respectively.

Nintendo Stocks Rise After Mobile Gaming Announcement

Nintendo Stocks Rise After Mobile Gaming Announcement

Super Smash Bros.

image description

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Mario Kart 8 have definitely helped breath fresh life into Nintendo’s Wii U sales, but it’s no secret that the company is still way behind where it was in the 2007/2008 Wii era. Two major announcements were made this morning that help give gamers and investors an idea of how the company plans to move forward in the next year and attempt to create the same kind of hype it did in 2007. According to Nintendo’s stock at the end business today, investors are clearly very happy about the plan.

In case you missed the news, Nintendo announced that it is working on a new console(codenamed NX) and confirmed rumors that the company is finally moving into the mobile gaming market. Some fans may be hesitant about their favorite Nintendo IPs being on the app store in addition to on the Wii U and the 3DS, but investors have been begging the company to capitalize on the mobile market for a long time.

After today’s announcement of the deal with DeNAto make mobile games, the company is seeing a major spike in share value. Currently, the stock value is up more than 30 percent on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. That brings the Nintendo stock value to a record high for 2015, but still not nearly as high as it was during the Nintendo craze that surrounded the launch of the original Wii.

The first Nintendo mobile games are estimated to launch in the fall. The company plans to develop brand new games with characters from its most popular IPs, rather than rerelease mobile versions of classic games. Nintendo’s value will likely balance out over the next day or two, but if the company makes a few more specific announcements about its plans for a new console or its fall lineup for the mobile market, we could see another spike.

Although it is exciting to see the Nintendo partnership with DeNA take off, it’s also important to keep in mind that Nintendo is years behind the pack on the mobile market. Hopefully, the company will be able to catch on quick and deliver quality products at affordable prices, but there is bound to be a learning curve in the transition from console to mobile game development and marketing. We look forward to this fall, when we’ll find out if Nintendo is up to the challenge.

Do you expect Nintendo’s stock to continue to climb or do you think the excitement will be short-lived? Let us know in the comments.

It might not officially be the fastest family hauler in the land, but it must be close.

It might not officially be the fastest family hauler in the land, but it must be close. John Hennessey has turned his sights to the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat sedan with a new twin-turbo package that cranks up the power 1,032 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

Because, well, the stock Charger SRT Hellcat's 707 horsepower just wasn't effective enough at burning rubber with a family of five aboard.

Building on the up-to-852-horse HPE800 and HPE850, the new HPE1000 Twin Turbo package is available for 2015 and newer Charger SRT Hellcats. Those two turbos, when added to the factory's supercharged 6.4-liter V-8, bump torque up to a stump-pulling 987 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm. As a result, the already wicked fast Charger SRT Hellcat's 0-60 mph sprint drops to just 2.7 seconds and it will burst through the quarter mile in a mere 9.9 seconds at 142 mph.

Notably, the mega Hellcat runs on 93 octane premium fuel.

For those hoping to have a 2,064 horsepower garage, Hennessey will add the same packageto the two-door, retro-styled Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Highlights of the upgrade start with the twin ball-bearing turbochargers with billet aluminum compressor wheels. To cope with that power, Hennessey's skunkworks have added a more stout fuel pump and high-flow fuel injectors, a high-flow air-to-water intercooler system, dual turbo wastegates, stainless steel headers, a number of tweaks to the computer's software, and a high-pressure air filter element.

Nintendo Will Release 5 Mobile Games by 2017

Nintendo Will Release 5 Mobile Games by 2017

Nintendo’s seen a lot of success with its recent free-to-play titles – Pokémon Shuffle for the 3DS has been downloaded over two million times, and Pokémon Rumble World looks like it’ll do similar numbers – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

image description

looks like it’ll do similar numbers – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With its expansion into mobile, Nintendo’s tapping into a newer, and much larger market – and if DeNA’s top executive is to be believed, the company’s jumping in with both feet.

While speaking at Pocket Gamer Connects, DeNACEO Shintaro Asako said that his company is helping Nintendo develop five different mobile games, the first of which will be out before the end of 2015. The others will arrive by April, 2017. Each game belongs to a different genre, and features a different Nintendo IP, in order to appeal to the widest audience possible; as Asako said, “We want to make sure out of those five IP that we can end up attracting hundreds of millions of people.” He later elaborated, “I understand some people like RPGs, casual games. That’s why we decided to work together to create five games, hitting on different genre-utilizing IPs.”

Nintendo announced its partnership with DeNAin March, although details have been fairly sparse since then. Previous reports indicated that Nintendo is handling the bulk of the development on its mobile titles, with DeNA acting as back-up. At Pocket Gamer Connects, Asako implicitly confirmed that this is the case, both praising Nintendo’s development team and saying that “DeNA’s expertise is definitely backend.”

Pokemon Shuffle Microtransactions

Pokemon Shuffle Microtransactions

However, if DeNA and Nintendo can pull it off, both companies stand to make a lot of money. When talking about DeNA’s and Nintendo’s partnership, Asako evoked Glu Mobile’s hitas an example of how a popular brand (like Nintendo’s various IPs) can lift a mobile title to the top of the charts.

The comparison also implies that Nintendo’s mobile games will have micro-transactions. While Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has previously discussed his dislike of the “free to play” labeland promised that Nintendo’s mobile games will be complete, value-packed experiences, DeNA makes most of its money on the free to play revenue model. It remains to be seen exactly how Nintendo will strike the balance between monetizing its games, while still staying true to its brand. Expect more information as 2015 rolls on and Nintendo’s first mobile game creeps closer to release.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat convertible up for sale

A dealership in South Dakota, of all places, is giving you a chance to feel the wind in your face while tapping all 707 horsepower of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat's 6.4-liter V-8 engine.

Dodge doesn't actually offer a factory Challenger convertible, but the one for sale at Iverson Dodge in Mitchell, South Dakota, was modified by Droptop Customs.

Sure, Florida-based Droptop Customs' business model is making stock-looking convertibles where the factory doesn't offer them, but an SRT Hellcat without a roof is rather unusual. In fact, this is said to be the only one on the road, and its owner says it was given Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles' blessing, even though it almost certainly lacks the structural rigidity of an unmolested Challenger coupe.

Currently, Iverson is offering the Challenger for $139,900, including Gilles' signature under its hood.

Iverson says the SRT Hellcat convertible was several months in the making. Its odometer displays just 555 miles, though it was previously registered in South Dakota according to the Carfax.

CHECK OUT: Nissan sets drifting record with GT-R Nismo

At nearly $140,000, the convertible is twice the price of a coupe. That's big money in Mitchell, which is best known for its Corn Palace (a building decorated every year with dried corn). We found several nice homes for sale in the area for less than the cost of this Challenger SRT Hellcat droptop.

Thanks to Auto Evolutionfor finding this unique muscle car.

Rumor: Nintendo & Disney Working On Deal for Movies, Video Games, and Toys

Rumor: Nintendo & Disney Working On Deal for Movies, Video Games, and Toys

There’s never a shortage of rumors to be found within the gaming industry, but the problem with most of these is validating the source from.

image description

There’s never a shortage of rumors to be found within the gaming industry, but the problem with most of these is validating the source from. The latest rumor concerned Nintendo, however, comes from a source that provided accurate information on the entirety of the third wave of amiibobefore they were revealed – as well as the newly announced Skylanders crossover featuring Bowser and Donkey Kong– which makes us inclined to report on it. With that said, take this report with a dump truck worth of salt.

Allegedly, Nintendo and Disney have made a tentative deal across a medley of mediums including games, movies, and interactive toys. Judging by the report, the deal (if legitimate) still isn’t inked, but it would likely result in a game where Mickey Mouse and Super Mario finally come face to face after all these years.

According to Spanish site RevoGamers, as reported by GoNintendo, the rumor states a number of details on the alleged deal between the two giants. First and foremost, it’ll pertain to compatibility between Nintendo’s incredibly successful toys-to-life amiibo toys and the ever popular. Allegedly Disney wanted to have Mario appear in the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0 , but the deal is still ongoing – which would likely mean the character wouldn’t appear until the next iteration, if at all.

Given the new found precedence for having Nintendo work with existing companies on support for their titles rather than going head-to-head against them, seeing Mario appear in Disney Infinity doesn’t seem that farfetched. It would also make for a major selling point on Nintendo platforms when compared to other formats. Of course, the support for the game likely wouldn’t stop at just one iconic Nintendo mascot either.

All that’s missing is Mario and his trademark kart.

Last, but not least, Disney is keen on seeing Mario and Mickey finally run into one another in a brand new video game featuring the duo. It’s said that Nintendo is open to the idea, but would want to remain firmly in charge of when and how this would happen. Understandably, it’s something that Nintendo does not want to rush, and would presumably take some back and forth with Disney to nail down.

The only thing that seems off about this report is the fact that Nintendo would sign a deal to have theme park attractions at Universal Studiosinstead of Disney theme parks. This could have been a deal made well in advance of these rumored Disney meetings, but one would think the company would want to lock up deals for attractions as part of the deal.

Once again, this is just a juicy rumor for fans of the Big N and the “House of Mouse” to ponder, but it sounds like the deal is far from closed if this is the case. Only time will tell if Nintendo has plans to pursue such a partnership, but the deal would almost certainly result in a match made in heaven for the companies.

Do you think there’s any truth to this rumor? Would you like to see Disney and Nintendo work together on future projects and films? Get at us in the comments.

This is our best look yet at the production version of Lincoln’s all-new Continental flagship sedan, which will serve as the replacement for the MKS when it goes on sale next year.

This is our best look yet at the production version of Lincoln’s all-new Continental flagship sedan, which will serve as the replacement for the MKS when it goes on sale next year. Previewed in concept form back at 2015 New York Auto Show, the production version looks almost identical to the striking show car(much to Bentley’s chagrin), right down to its vertical-split grille, traditional three-box shape and transparent-chrome tail lights.

The platform underpinning the car is a stretched version of Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE:F] front-wheel-drive (with available all-wheel drive) CD4 architecture, which is found in a variety of existing models such as the Fusion, Edge crossover and Lincoln MKZ. The stretched version of the CD4 platform is common to the all-new 2016 Ford Taurus, which made its debut in Chinese-market trim at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show.

The Continental prototype featured in our latest spy shots is likely to be a U.S.-spec car, but an even longer version tipped to be sold exclusively in China where it will be aimed at the market’s chauffeur-driven class is being developed. The new Taurus measures in at 197 inches in length, and we suspect the new Continental will be similar in size. The long-wheelbase model, however, should stretch beyond 200 inches.

At least one powerplant we can be sure of is a new 3.0-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine, previewed in the Continental concept car. Front-wheel drive will likely be standard to help maximize fuel economy, although we suspect most Continental buyers will seek the available all-wheel-drive setup. A hybrid variant may be offered as some point in addition to a more powerful version with a larger capacity engine.

We don’t have any photos showing the interior but it’s safe to assume that the general layout of the cabin in the Continental concept will be transferred faithfully to the production model. Three seats should feature in the rear of the U.S.-spec car, though Chinese versions could offer two individual executive seats up back. Look for plenty of chrome, leather and various soft-touch materials. A premium Revel audio systemshould also feature, along with the latest Sync infotainment system and connectivity options as well as plush seats with 30-way adjustment.

Lincoln hasn’t set a firm date for the launch of its new Continental, stating only that it will go on sale in 2016, meaning it will likely land as a 2017 model. A debut at next month's 2016 Detroit Auto Show is looking likely. Per Lincoln, key rivals will be the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. We also suspect a few potential buyers for the new Cadillac CT6may want to wait and see what the new Continental turns out like before signing on the dotted line.

image description

At this point in time, it’s likely that (despite any preferences or discontent with the current Nintendo consoles) consumers are all too familiar with the house of Mario’s take on the ever-popular toys-to-life genre, amiibo. The scannable figurines have been equal parts enjoyable to amass as they are challenging to find, and the madness that consumes those that collect these gaming-centric statues likely won’t be dying down at any point in the near future.

While the dust is still settling following the arrival of the fourth wave of amiibojust weeks ago, the next pair of characters are now set to arrive ahead of a more fleshed out wave in just a few weeks time. The characters featured in this wave are none other than Palutena and Dark Pit offame, but fans will have to go to different retailers in order to secure the toys.

While it has been known for some time already that Dark Pit will be exclusive to Best Buy stores, Amazon has revealed that it has the exclusive selling rights to the goddess Palutena in North America. Taking to Twitter, the online retailer made its announcement, locking down what many can only assume will be a decent chunk of cash from Nintendo fans in the process.

Have you heard? The Palutena amiibo is going to be available exclusively at Amazon! http://t.co/jppkpfgeK3 pic.twitter.com/BWUorufy6e— Amazon Video Games (@amazongames) July 14, 2015

As has been the trend with recent amiibo launches, Palutena will be one per customer in a bid to cut down on scalpers – a sad reality for those that were hoping to secure an additional figurine for a friend or family member. It’s also been said that there is a lot more stock for this Amazon-exclusive then previous amiibo, which means that the toy likely won’t sell out upon seconds of going live.

The craziness surrounding amiibo collecting is truly unlike any other game-related merchandise ever released, and it’s unlikely that Nintendo will be changing that anytime soon. Evidently, with over 10.5 million toys shipped as of March, the momentum of these scannable hunks of plastic doesn’t seem to be slowing down at any point in the near future.

Will you be trying to secure a Palutena amiibo? Which amiibo are you looking forward to? Get at us in the comments.

IndieBox Subscription Service Celebrates Independent Game Development

IndieBox Subscription Service Celebrates Independent Game Development

In spite of how the term is often used, “indie” games aren’t really a separate genre.

image description

In spite of how the term is often used, “indie” games aren’t really a separate genre. The exquisite retro-style platforming of, for example, isn’t anything like the text-heavy interactive novel in, and neither game has anything to do with the first-person puzzles of. While indie studios might share some similarities in terms of the size of their budgets or the scope of their design teams, independent games themselves are just as unique as big-budget triple-A titles, if not more so.

Still, that hasn’t stopped indie developers and their fans from banding together, creating a viable alternative to repetitive and DLC-heavy mainstream releases. The indie game movement is growing, with no sign of stopping any time soon. Many of the most anticipated games of 2015, like Firewatch and No Man’s Sky , are indie titles. Mojang, the company behind Minecraft , was independent until last September, when Microsoft bought the company for $2.5 billion.

As tools like Unity and the Unreal make game development more and more accessible, the number of indie titles on the market keeps growing.  As time goes on, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to figure out what’s worth playing, and what should be ignored. That’s where IndieBox comes in. For about $20 a month, IndieBox ships a hand-picked game from an independent studio straight to your door. Every package comes with a cartridge-style USB stick, a soundtrack CD, an illustrated instruction manual, a sticker, and a collection of merchandise based on the game of the month.

IndieBox Teslagrad

IndieBox Teslagrad

Both of those games retail for $15 on their own (although they’re often on sale for less), making the IndieBox a pretty good value, particularly for gamers who like special editions or miss the old days when every game had a cartridge, box, and manual.

On the other hand, most of the games IndieBox offers are fairly old; January’s offering, Super Win the Game , came out in October 2014, but many of the titles are from 2013 or earlier. Further, IndieBox doesn’t reveal what games are coming until they’re ready to ship, creating a situation where subscribers might end up with a second copy of a game they played a long time ago. For people who are just starting to explore the independent game industry – or who just like extra stuff – IndieBox seems like a no-brainer. For everyone else, proceed with caution.

Hyrule Warriors’ Could Get ‘Pokemon’ and ‘Mario’ Followups

‘Hyrule Warriors’ Could Get ‘Pokemon’ and ‘Mario’ Followups
One of the more surprising games that released last year was none other than Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U.

for the Wii U. Teaming up with Tecmo Koei, Nintendo supervised one of the more entertaining crossovers in recent memory – combining both The Legend of Zelda andand it seems that the team responsible for the first-ever Zelda hack-and-slash is keen on continuing work with the Big N.

Since Nintendo has a rich library of properties, there’s no limit to what else Tecmo Koei’s Omega Red studio could pair up with Dynasty Warriors (better known as Musou in Japan) next. During a recent interview between Eurogamer and Hisashi Koinuma, the producer for Hyrule Warriors , the developer stated that one property he’d love to apply the tried and true Warriors formula to is none other than Super Mario Bros. .

“One of my ultimate dreams would be using that character with the red hat on top.”

When asked if he was sincere about those comments by Polygon , Koinuma reiterated that he actually believes that a ‘ Super Mario Warriors ‘ could work. Taking Mario away from his traditional hand-to-hand techniques, the producer invasions an arsenal of familiar moves that would “blast enemies off the screen or knock them unconscious.”Koinuma then claimed,  “I suppose the game would be balanced so the kids could enjoy it as their first action game experience, whereas the adults could enjoy the game with friends and families as a group.”

Hyrule Warriors Roster

Hyrule Warriors Roster

Masuda also believes that players would needs to throw out a ton of Pokeballs to keep up with the immense battles featured within these types of titles. Of course, Masuda would like this proposed ‘ Pokemon Warriors ‘ spin-off to feature a handful of new gameplay gimmicks, but the producer of Pocket Monsters doesn’t seem too against the idea.

It’s not all that hard to picture either franchise receiving its very own Dynasty Warriors spin-off, and it sounds as if Hisashi Koinuma at least has some unique ideas in mind if he is ever permitted to work with future Nintendo franchises. In the meantime, however, the developer is still hard at work on making DLC for Hyrule Warriors , so there’s still plenty left for Koinuma and his team to do.

Far Cry Primal Leads Top Selling Games of February 2016

Far Cry Primal Leads Top Selling Games of February 2016

Far Cry Primal tops the best selling games list for February 2016, beating Street Fighter 5 , but hardware sales suffer a huge decline in the NPD Group’s latest report.

image description

Set in pre-historic times, Far Cry Primal ditches the series’ vehicles and modern weaponry for spears, clubs, bows, and animal companions. However, while the game’s pre-historic gameplay had many intrigued, there were concerns that Primal was just a re-skin of Far Cry 4 (the fact that the two games seem to share a mapalso raised eyebrows). Moreover, some players were frustrated that the game doesn’t include co-op.

This didn’t seem to matter too much, though, as Ubisoft’s open-world game topped the software sales list during February 2016, according to a newly released report from the NPD Group. Coming in second was 2015 release Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and in third place was Grand Theft Auto 5 , with the game continuing strong years after its release (the most recent tally put it at over 60 million sales).

At number four, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 was the next new release on the list, followed by basketball sim NBA 2K16 in fifth place, and LEGO Marvel’s Avengers , which was released in the last few days of January, in sixth.

Arguably the second biggest release of February, Street Fighter 5 , was way down at seventh place. While Street Fighter 5 ‘s incredibly short story campaignmay have put some players off, it’s important to note that the NPD Group doesn’t track digital sales (a majority of sales on PC are digital) or physical game sales outside the US.

fallout 4 sole survivor raider vats

fallout 4 sole survivor raider vats

The top ten finishes out with Minecraft in eighth place, Fire Emblems Fates: Birthright in ninth, and Fallout 4 at number 10. The NPD Group says that if all three versions of Fire Emblem Fates were combined, the game “would have ranked third for new physical software sales”.

Sales of current-gen consoles, on the other hand, only declined by 6% in comparison to February 2015 and are likely to bounce back this month. Tom Clancy’s The Division has become Ubisoft’s fastest selling game everand likely helped move a few consoles in the process, while (console-only release) EA Sports UFC 2 will surely help shift some console units when the fighting sim releases next week.

Ferrari To Launch New Model Every Year, Stick With V-8 And V-12 Engines

Ferrari’s future plans detailed during yesterday’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles five-year strategy announcement were a bit more subdued than those of its sister brands, but we did get confirmation of a few important details.

Ferrari’s future plans detailed during yesterday’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles five-year strategy announcement were a bit more subdued than those of its sister brands, but we did get confirmation of a few important details. First and foremost, Ferrari has promised to launch at least one new model every year, but will be keeping sales capped at 7,000 units per year worldwide despite estimating it could easily sell upwards of 10,000 units annually.

Each of the cars (not including special series models like the LaFerrari, which tend to come once every decade) will have a lifespan of about eight years, but will undergo a significant update or “modificato” as Ferrari describes it. We’ve already seen this with the transition of the California to the latest California T. The next model due is likely to be the updated 458 Italia.

Ferrari has also confirmed it will be sticking with V-8 and V-12 engines for the foreseeable future, meaning the updated 458won’t be downsizing to a V-6as has been speculated. However, we’re likely to see more turbocharged models launched, and eventually more hybrids although the latter will depend on future improvements in battery technology. At present hybrids don’t make sense for Ferrari financially outside of special series models like the LaFerrari, Special Projects one-off cars and XX experimental models.

You may be wondering how Ferrari intends to grow its business and support its racing program if sales are capped at 7,000 units annually. The automaker has confirmed it will continue to launch special series models as well as grow its personalization program and brand licensing operations. You may recall that earlier this year Ferrari announced that a second Ferrari-branded theme park would be opened in Spainto join the original in Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari also said it sees the wealth of high net worth individuals at record levels, and that its own value is estimated to be between $4.6 billion and $7.5 billion. However, the automaker ended its presentation with the statement: “Ferrari is not for sale”.

Quick Spin: We Drive The 2017 Acura NSX, Ever So Briefly

The second-generation Acura NSX isn't due to be released until next spring, but Acura is giving early rides to some media outlets.

isn't due to be released until next spring, but Acura is giving early rides to some media outlets. Last week, Acura had a preview test drive at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and this past week I had the chance to get a few minutes behind the wheel on the high-speed oval at the Honda R&D Center in Tochigi, Japan.

Unfortunately, my drive wasn't as in-depth as the Laguna Seca launch, but I did learn some things about this high-tech Japanese supercar. Here are some observations:

-The cockpit is comfortable and upscale. I drove a Japanese-market car with right-hand drive. Since Acura doesn't exist in Japan, it was labeled a Honda, but the tune is the same. Compared to the S660 I had driven earlier, the NSX felt very roomy, with more hip and shoulder room, and plenty of headroom. In fact, Acura says the car has enough headroom for a 95th-percentile adult male. In addition to the space, the materials seem appropriate for a car that will cost in the neighborhood of $150,000, with wrapped surfaces, alcantara trim, and other quality components.

DON'T MISS: Mighty Micro: We drive the tiny but fun Honda S660

-It sounds great, from inside the car at least. Pin the throttle and the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 lets out a wail that fills the cockpit and lets you know that you have tapped into a beast. The sound from outside, however, isn't quite as vicious. That's because Acura pipes some of the sound into the limited space of a two-seat cockpit, though without amplifying it through the speakers.

Acura NSX, Honda R&D Center, Oct. 2015

Acura NSX, Honda R&D Center, Oct. 2015

Enlarge Photo

-It's really fast. The powertrain of the NSX consists of the twin-turbo V-6, which makes 500 horsepower, a 47-horspower electric motor at the rear, and two 36-horsepower electric motors up front in a single "twin power unit." The V-6 and rear motor send their power to the rear, while the front motors power each front tire and provide torque vectoring. The motors also provide torque fill between shifts and during acceleration from a stop. Acura says the 0 to 60 mph run is faster than you'll get in a Ferrari 458, Audi R8 V-10, or Porsche 911 Turbo, but notes that the time should be measured from when you hit the throttle, not when the car starts moving. The point is that the electric motors allow for immediate throttle response and full system output creates a 0 to 60 mph time that's probably in the 3.5-second range. Unfortunately, Honda didn't want us to drive the car faster than 111 mph and they actually had them governed at 118 mph. Those speeds are child's play for the NSX.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is currently in the process of announcing a new five-year strategy that will see much of its vehicle lineup renewed between now and 2018. There will also be some repositioning of brands, with SRT confirmed to be integrated with Dodge as its in-house tuner and Dodge to become a performance brand.

Below is a rough outline for Dodge’s future over the next couple of years.

2015 : Grand Caravan and Avenger to be phased out. Challenger, Charger and Viper to receive updates (including supercharger for SRT Challenger and Charger). No change to Durango.

2016: Dart to receive update and new SRT variant with all-wheel drive and turbo.

‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Story Mission for Harley Quinn Revealed
Licensed games, which borrow the intellectual property and characters from an existing franchise, used to be considered boring cash-grabs that traded dynamic gameplay mechanics for a recognizable face.

image description

Licensed games, which borrow the intellectual property and characters from an existing franchise, used to be considered boring cash-grabs that traded dynamic gameplay mechanics for a recognizable face. This perception was altered when Rocksteadyreleased Batman: Arkham Asylum , a fan favorite that allowed players to become the caped crusader in an action/stealth adventure that remained true to the DC comics.

Rocksteady continued that trend of excellence with Batman: Arkham City and now fans eagerly await the final installment, Batman: Arkham Knight . One of the reasons for the high-level of fan anticipation is that Rocksteady includes allies and villains from the Batman universe as playable characters, each with their own unique style, mechanics and personality.

Previous Arkham installments allowed players to select familiar Batman characters like the Joker, Catwoman, Robin or Nightwing. Rocksteady already confirmed that Red Hood is a GameStop exclusiveand that Harley Quinn will join the roster of playable characters in Batman: Arkham Knight . However, a recent Amazon listing reveals that Harley Quinn will be playable in DLC story missions alongside the already announced challenge maps:

“For the first time in the Arkham series take on the role of Joker’s psychotic side-kick Harley Quinn and wreak havoc inside the Blüdhaven Police Department. With this exclusive Story Pack experience events in the lead-up to Arkham Knight as you infiltrate Blüdhaven to rescue your partner in crime: Poison Ivy.”

Harley Quinn, a psychiatrist turned super villain, will likely play a large role within Batman: Arkham Knight given her new status and ties to the Joker after the ending of Batman: Arkham City . It appears that Poison Ivy will also return to trouble Batman since her debut in Arkham Asylum , as the rescue mission DLC story takes place before the main campaign in Arkham Knight . During Arkham City , Ivy was a villain within the Catwoman DLCstory missions instead of an opponent to the world’s greatest detective.

Another piece of information to note in the listing is the word exclusive, it doesn’t call out if this exclusivity is for all pre-order copies or will only be available if purchased through Amazon – previous reports of Harley Quinn only mention her being playable on challenge maps and do not reference the DLC story mission.

Most Anticipated 2015 - Batman Arkham Knight

Most Anticipated 2015 - Batman Arkham Knight

Either option of retailer exclusivity or pre-order bonus would be in keeping with the release strategy of Batman: Arkham City . During the Arkham City release Catwoman was a pre-order DLC character and there were alternative Batman costumes available at differing retailers.

The Arkham City costume variants limited players’ choices within the initial launch, as some content would remain unavailable depending on where the game was purchased. Eventually, all exclusive content for Arkham City was released as DLCor bundled with the game of the year edition but it was still initially off-putting for diehard fans to be forced to choose where to purchase their game based upon variant content. Batman: Arkham Knight might follow its predecessors and force players to make a choice between Harley Quinn story content or Red Hood.

Already completionists must purchase Batman: Arkham Knight on the PS4 due to an exclusive story missionon the Sony console centered around Scarecrow. The Scarecrow Nightmare DLC differs from the Harley Quinn DLC story mission as players still control Batman in this one-off mission as Gotham is “at the mercy of Scarecrow, the fate of the city hangs in the balance as he is joined by a huge roster of other infamous villains.”

In the end, despite a day one DLC release strategy that will infuriate some gamers, expect to see Batman: Arkham Knight continue the strong salesof its predecessors and be a contender for game of the year 2015.

Whose story would you rather play, Red Hood or Harley Quinn? What other heroes or villains from DC Comics do you want to see in Batman: Arkham Knight ?

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on June 2, 2015.

Batman: Arkham Knight’ Delayed Again; New Gameplay Video Released

Batman: Arkham Knight’ Delayed Again; New Gameplay Video Released

‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Delayed Again; New Gameplay Video Released
Considering he’s one of the most popular superheroes of all time, it’s no surprise many players have enjoyed being able to play as Batman as the Dark Knight cleans up the city of Gotham.

image description

as the Dark Knight cleans up the city of Gotham. Both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were received well and Batman Arkham: Knight is going to round out the trilogy with Batman’s biggest challenge yet.

In Arkham Knight , players will go face to face with even more notorious figures from the DC Comics world. This includes Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Penguin, Two-Face, Riddler, Firefly and Poison Ivy, with the supervillains all teaming up on Halloween night to exterminate Batman once and for all. Arkham Knight also features a militarized version of the hero, but as every Gotham citizen has fled the city, taking down all of those iconic DC foes isn’t going to be easy.

Bringing that vision to life was also proving to be quite difficult for the game’s developer Rocksteady Studios, who delayed the game from late 2014 to June 2nd, 2015. Now, the game is being delayed again as Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros. Interactivehave announced that the new Batman: Arkham Knight release date is June 23rd, 2015.

The game’s director Sefton Hill has apologized in a statement:

“We’re a developer that hates to make any compromises, so we are sorry to say this means it’s going to be just a little bit longer until you can play the epic conclusion to the Arkham trilogy.”

The reasons for the delay are unclear but when Arkham Knight was delayed last year, Rocksteady said that they wanted to “ensure [that they] are delivering the awesome level of quality that Batman fans and gamers expect from this”. Not only is it the last game of the Batman Arkham trilogy but Rocksteady Studios has also stated that this will be their last ever Batman game, and so they will want be especially careful that they don’t rush through development.

The delay is unfortunate but “as a reward for [fans’] patience and understanding” Rocksteady and Warner Bros. have released a brand new Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay trailer. In the seven and a half minutes of footage we see Batman work with Police Commissioner James Gordon as they look to secure the city following Scarecrow’s threat that he’ll detonate a chemical bomb. Since all of the citizens fled and criminals have taken over, Gordon’s police force is stretched thin, which is why we also see Barbara Gordon (as Oracle, a hacker) lending her services to the fight.

In addition to some meaty looking combat, viewers also get a glimpse of Batman’s Batmobile. The Batmobile will play a vital role in Batman’s fight against the supervillians, especially as Arkham Knight features a much larger open world than Arkham City . The Batmobile is also equipped with explosives and other handy equipment which, as the gameplay trailer states, should help players “even the odds”.

Did the new gameplay trailer make you more excited for Batman: Arkham Knight ‘s release? Or are you too disappointed about the game’s delay?

Batman: Arkham Knight will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on June 23rd, 2015.

Out of the announcements made during yesterday’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles five-year strategy presentation, probably the most significant were those affecting Chrysler. With Dodge to be the performance brand of the American arm of FCA, Chrysler will serve the mainstream audience and compete with the likes of Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai and Toyota—worldwide. If all goes to plan, Chrysler sales will reach 800,000 units by 2018 (a level reached in 2005), up from 350,000 last year.

Core attributes of Chrysler going forward will be substance and style, innovation and craftsmanship, value, and production in North America. Importantly, Chrysler will be the only FCA brand to offer a minivan, and it will also be the first to offer plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Below is a rough outline for Chrysler’s future over the five-year period starting 2014:

2014 : 200 sedan launched and will be joined by a facelifted 300.

2015 : No major introductions.

2016 : New 100 compact sedan to be launched alongside a new Town & Country minivan. The latter will offer a plug-in hybrid option.

2017 : 200 to receive an update and a new full-size crossover to be launched. The crossover will offer a plug-in hybrid option and may revive the Pacifica nameplate.

2018 : A new midsize crossover will be launched along with a new 300 sedan. The latter will likely share a platform with new versions of the Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle cars due around the same time.

Telltale Games CEO Talks Upcoming Batman Adaptation, Future Games

Telltale Games CEO Talks Upcoming Batman Adaptation, Future Games

Following the reveal of Batman: A Telltale Game Series at The Game Awards 2015, Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner sheds some light on their upcoming Batman game and future titles.

image description

Last year’s The Game Awardssaw a number of awards being handed out, some tributes being made, and a few surprise video game announcements. But one of the biggest surprise announcements of that night was arguably the reveal of Batman: A Telltale Game Series . After a few months of relative silence following the game’s brief reveal trailer, Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner has now shed some light on the upcoming

With the first episode set for launch sometime in 2016, Bruner has stated that their adaptation of Batman will be unlike any other Batman game on the market. Speaking to Kotaku, Bruner said:

“Our Batman series is looking fantastic. I think it might become one of the best things we’ve ever done. I can’t go into much detail, but the Batman team is amazing and they are really on top of it. It’s not like any other Batman game out there. This game really explores all aspects of Batman, not just the the “fighting in the suit” side of him. There’s a lot of subplots to explore and some really amazing choices that have a big impact on the story being told. I really think it might be the peak of the mountain for us so far.”

Since the popular Arkham franchise is now concludedwith release of Batman: Arkham Knight , Telltale’s version of Batman will be a welcome return to the world of Gotham. Since it is highly unlikely that Telltale will make some large-scale open-world Batman game, it is expected that their upcoming take on Batman will feature the usual Telltale point-and-click gameplay. What will be interesting is how the origin story of Bruce Wayne will be handled, especially if Telltale uses their trademark branching storyline mechanic.

For those wanting a quick taste on what to expect from Batman: A Telltale Game Series , check out the teaser trailer below.

With a large slate of games on their agenda including Game of Thrones, Tales of the Borderlands, The Walking Dead , and a host of unannounced original IP, Telltale are undoubtedly a busy lot. But with the Telltale team now growing to over 300 people, Bruner has stated that they’re well-prepared to handle their large workload:

“We’ve basically built the studio to handle up to four Telltale series at the same time, with a little extra for special projects. The productions are staggered so each project is in a different stage at any time. Pretty much everyone here ends up working on every project at some point, so our biggest challenge is coordinating how the projects are flowing through the studio. Last year we really put so much work into that aspect of the studio, and I think you’ll see that pay off with this year’s line up.”

With a very busy 2015 over, it looks like 2016 is set to be another big year for Telltale. In addition to Batman , Telltale is expected to wrap up The Walking Dead: Michonne and, while news for their highly-anticipatedis expected to drop at some point.

Couple those titles with an upcoming console game set in the Marvel Universe, a TV and game collaboration with Lionsgate Studios, and the reveal of Telltale’s own original IP at some point in the future, it looks like gamers can expect a lot more things from Telltale Games for a while yet.

The first episode of Batman: A Telltale Game Series will be launched at some point in 2016. No platforms are confirmed yet, but it is expected that the game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

, but we now have confirmation of the vehicle’s development and a date of release. The confirmation was made during yesterday’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles five-year strategy announcement, where we also learned about the future of Jeep’s entire portfolio of vehicles.

FCA wants to see Jeep return to the number one spot when it comes to sales of SUVs and crossovers (at present it’s ranked sixth), and it plans to do so by strengthening the brand’s rugged image, growing its production and distribution footprint, and launching all-new models. Essentially, Jeep’s localized portfolio will be expanded from five nameplates built in one country to six nameplates in six countries (new locations will include Brazil, China, India, Italy and possibly Canada or Mexico).

FCA estimates Jeep sales to top one million units this year, up from roughly 732,000 units last year, but by 2018 it hopes Jeep sales will reach 1.83 million units annually. While North America accounts for most Jeep sales at present, FCA sees the Asia Pacific region growing to be the dominant market in the near future.

So what about the new models? Below is a rough outline for Jeep’s future over the five-year period starting 2014:

2014 : New Renegade subcompact launched.

2015 : Grand Cherokee to receive major update.

2016 : Patriot and Compass to be replaced by new compact crossover. Cherokee small SUV to receive major update.

2017 : Renegade to receive major update and new versions of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee to be launched.

Few details about the new models were specified but the Grand Wagoneer was confirmed to feature third-row seating. As previously reported, the new Wrangler will likely be lighter than the current model, come with independent suspension, and offer more engine options.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 4 Release Date, Screenshots

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 4 Release Date, Screenshots

Minecraft: Story Mode’s fourth episode, “A Block and a Hard Place,” is planned for release on December 22, with the “Mysterious” fifth episode slated for early 2016.

image description

All things considered, Telltale Games is really firing on all cylinders with the production of. Not only has an episode been released at a rate of more than one per month, but each episode has also released across all supported platforms on the exact same date.

Minecraft: Story Mode is what happens when Telltale gets its ducks in a line, and episode 4, titled “A Block and a Hard Place,” maintains this. The episode is now announced for a December 22 launch across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile platforms.

Note that from here on there will potentially be spoilers regarding the first three episodes of Minecraft: Story: Mode , as well as some light ones for Episode 4 as well.

The perils of the Wither Storm have grown ever more apparent in the three episode so far released in Minecraft: Story Mode . Episode 4 is no different, as the danger reaches its apex. Jesse, Reuben and friends, however, may have figured out just what it will take to save the day. Their journey takes them into the Farlands, where the adventure is risked as much by turmoil within the group as without. One way or another, “A Block and a Hard Place,” will bring an end to the first chapter of Minecraft: Story Mode .

Say what? The first chapter of Minecraft: Story Mode will be coming to an end? There’s still a fifth chapter left that nothing is known about! Telltale is staying mum on the exact nature of Episode 5, but Episode 4 is said to reveal its nature. The “mysterious” fifth episode is tentatively planned for release in early 2016.  An ambiguous launch date to go with an ambiguous story chapter. Telltale’s certainly capable of a quick turnaround, so if Episode 4 has a cliffhanger fans will certainly expect a January release instead of an “early 2016” launch.

Minecraft: Story Mode's Episode 4 Release Date,

Minecraft: Story Mode's Episode 4 Release Date,

Many Telltale faithful are probably counting the days until the jump back to another of their series. But here we are at the end of 2015 and Minecraft: Story Mode is the only series at Telltale currently having episodes released. 2016’s schedule currently includes a short series for The Walking Dead: Michonne and a recently announced Batman series. Odds are that means at least one more series is likely to be announced and begun next year, perhaps two considering the shortness of.

That’s not to say that Minecraft: Story Mode isn’t worth being excited about. It’s only that Telltale has proven that they have the potential to create a game of the year candidate with every title they put out. As said before, Minecraft: Story Mode sets out and delivers on exactly what intended to, but to say it’s a particularly aspiring game isn’t necessarily true.

Minecraft: Story Mode ‘s first three episodes are currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS and Android. Episode 4, “A Block and a Hard Place,” will be available as well starting December 22.

Maserati Looks To Future With Alfieri 2+2 Concept: Live Photos And Video From Geneva

Maserati Looks To Future With Alfieri 2+2 Concept: Live Photos And Video From Geneva

Maserati turns 100 this year, and as part of the celebrations the Italian automaker has rolled out the stunning Alfieri concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show taking place today.

Maserati turns 100 this year, and as part of the celebrations the Italian automaker has rolled out the stunning Alfieri concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show taking place today. The concept is a 2+2 coupe and is named after Alfieri Maserati, who, in 1914 with the help of his four brothers, started the Maserati company.

The Alfieri draws its inspiration from archetypal Maseratis such as the 1953 A6 GCS-53, 1957 3500 GT, 1959 5000 GT and 1969 Indy. This link with Maserati’s past sporting greats helps Maserati re-establish its true orientation in terms of design and production.

MUST SEE: Fifth And Final Pagani Zonda Revolucion: 2014 Geneva Motor Show Live Photos

If the new Quattroporte and Ghibli gave the impression that Maserati was becoming oriented towards sporty sedans, this new concept is striking back and reminding everybody that Maserati has a remarkable racing heritage and a unique tradition in exotic sports cars and grand tourers.

Maserati says the Alfieri hints at the brand’s future design language, but could it also preview a specific model? It’s certainly possible. In fact, Maserati states that the Alfieri could well be a door to the future of Maserati.

“The Alfieri is a transition point between 100 glorious years of history and the future that is opening up before us,” Maserati design boss Lorenzo Ramaciotti said in a statement. “I sincerely can’t say that we’ll see this car in production in two years, but I’m certain we’ll see something very similar.”

Maserati execs have confirmed in the past that the company is planning a smaller sports model along the lines of its previous GranSport. Designed to take on the likes of the Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911, the new car would be positioned below the GranTurismo range as a sports offering, allowing the GranTurismo to grow in size and focus on the luxury coupe market.

Underpinning the Alfieri is a shortened version of the platform found in Maserati’s current GranTurismo MC Stradale. The engine also carries over from the GranTurismo; it’s a 4.7-liter V-8 mounted up front and delivering 460 horsepower to the rear wheels via Maserati’s MC Shift automated manual transmission and limited-slip rear differential.

The Alfieri’s carbon ceramic disc brakes also come directly from the GranTurismo MC Stradale and are combined with blue Brembo brake calipers. The brakes sit within forged aluminum wheels measuring 20 inches in diameter up front and 21 inches in the rear. The custom wheels feature integrated decorative spokes that wink at the classic spoke wheels of the 1950s.

Maserati’s designers have gone with a minimalist theme for the interior. The suspended dashboard is conceptually inspired by that of the Maserati 5000 GT. The dashboard boasts a clean, organic, two-tone design built around a central digital display. The instrument panel has a classic layout with two main dials with two smaller ones in between. The edge of each is embellished with a small Maserati label.

As a special touch, the floor is finished in a material that imitates oxidized steel, a material commonly found on racing cars of the 1950s. Poltrona Frau aniline leather with a natural look and feel covers the seats, dashboard and center console.

Also present on Maserati’s stand at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show is the new Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition. For more from the show, head to our dedicated hub.
