Telltale Confirms No ‘The Walking Dead Season 3’ This Year

Telltale Games is doing a lot these days, across a few different franchises.

The Walking Dead Season 1 is probably when a lot of people first heard about the developer, but they’ve been around for a decent amount of time, and they’re good at what they do.

Game of Thrones and Borderlands are the most recent franchises to get the “Telltale treatment,” and even Marvel is getting in on the funfor a game coming out in 2017. But with everything the studio has lined up for them, many out there are curious as to when they’ll see the return of Clementine in The Walking Dead Season 3 . It was, after all, confirmed to be in development a while back.

Unfortunately, fans of The Walking Dead will have to wait a bit longer for Season 3 , though that isn’t to say that something related to The Walking Dead series won’t be coming this year. Telltale’s own PR director said as much on Twitter today, and continued to drop hints about something that should fill the hole quite well. The only thing left to do until Telltale Gamessays more is to look ahead towards E3 2015 next month, as it would be the most appropriate place to share more details about this.

. @IGN @telltalegames....something BIG for WD fans...

As for what this mystery The Walking Dead project could be that’s anyone’s guess, but it will most likely be something similar to 400 Days DLC – a short episode released between the first and second seasons of the game, starring a new set of characters. Depending on what a player did throughout the episode, some of these new characters would then briefly appear in The Walking Dead Season 2 .

Regardless of what this The Walking Dead project turns out to be, expect it to offer painful choices, zombies, and a few likable characters that will be ripped away (or apart) from players by the end of it. It wouldn’t really be a Telltale Walking Dead game without any of that, though we suspect it will still be different from the other Walking Dead game in development.

What do you think Telltale has planned for the series before The Walking Dead Season 3 ? Or do you wish they’d just skip ahead to releasing the new season?
