. The developer found a powerful voice with its five-part series, gaining a huge amount of success both critically and commercially. The title’s tough moral choices and deep, interesting characters created one of the most immersive video games in years.

Although the second season of The Walking Dead did not garner quite as much acclaim as the original, it is still seen by many as a standout example of video game storytelling. Telltale has also built upon the back of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us to take on some other major franchises. The developer is currently releasing episodic content for Borderlands and Game of Thrones , and has also revealed a partnership with Lionsgatefor a new cross-format IP.

It has now been confirmed that Telltale will be making a further adaptation of The Walking Dead , after the developer announced that it would create The Walking Dead: Season 3 during a panel at South by Southwest. The news was revealed on Reddit by user Forestl, after the SXSW gaming panel was streamed live on Twitch . The announcement solidifies Telltale’s plans with the series, after Skybound Entertainment revealed plans for a third season on Twitter last year.

It’s unlikely there will be any concrete news on The Walking Dead: Season 3 for a while, since Telltale has plenty of other projects to keep its team occupied. Alongside current titles like Game of Thrones , the developer is working on some other major games. Telltale revealed it would be creating an adaptation of Mojang’s Minecraft , and Telltale’s CEO Kevin Bruner has also teased the studio’s first original IP.

Fans of The Walking Dead may have something sooner rather than later, though, as the developer also revealed that there would be something else Walking Dead -related in the works. It may well be that Telltale is working on a smaller spin-off game, akin to 2013’s The Walking Dead: 400 Days . We’ll have more details on these projects as they come.
