‘Black Ops 2 – Mob of the Dead’ Gameplay Trailer: ’90s Gangsters Battle the Undead
Although most gamers are likely anticipating Black Ops 2 ‘s Uprising DLC for new multiplayer maps, the expansion also brings with it a new Zombies campaign.
for new multiplayer maps, the expansion also brings with it a new Zombies campaign. Positioned in a fashion similar to the first Black Ops ‘ Call of the Deadcampaign, this one — titled Mob of the Dead — includes more celebrity cameos/playable characters and an intriguing story.
As the trailer above explains, Black Ops 2 – Mob of the Dead is set on Alcatraz, San Francisco’s claustrophobic prison. More importantly, Alcatraz is the perfect setting for four old timey gangsters to do battle with hordes of the undead.
To play those gangsters, Treyarch has selected a set of actors that are no strangers to unsightly characters that live above the law. The cast includes Michael Madsen (Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs ), Chazz Palminteri (Sonny LoSpecchio in Bronx Tale ), Joe Pantoliano (Ralph Cifaretto in The Sopranos ), and Ray Liotta (Henry Hill from Goodfellas ).
This time around, the celebrity-filled expansion feels a little more focused; with Treyarchcreating characters that best represent some of the more iconic roles of these actors. Call of the Dead, on the other hand, was a smorgasbord of actors that were loosely, sometimes even vaguely connected to zombies — save, of course, for the godfather of the undead George Romero.
There also appears to be at least one new power-up for the Zombies mode— a flaming tomahawk that functions like a combination of a boomerang and a yo-yo. Could be a very useful tool.
And finally, the trailer ends with the type of makeshift escape plan that could only work on a zombie-infested Alcatraz. Will players make it far enough to launch themselves across the Pacific? We’ll have to wait until April 16thto find out.
Will you be picking up the Black Ops 2 Uprising DLC? Which actor are you most interesting in playing as?
