The Super Bowl is big business, particularly for automakers who each year line up to pay millions of advertising dollars for a bit of airtime. While in past years there were always the luxury brands trying to outdo each other, this year they’ve mostly taken a backseat and left the task up to more mainstream brands. Here are some of the ads that made their debut during yesterday’s Super Bowl 50.

Ads from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU] have had a serious tone in recent years. This year, the highlight was the automaker’s Jeep brand, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. There were two ads. The first, Portraits , is meant to pay homage to the brand’s past and the people who have formed it.

The second ad from Jeep, 4x4ever , looks to the future and signifies how Jeep is creating stories all over the globe. It also features its own theme song performed by Morgan Dorr.

Another automaker with two ads was Toyota. Its first, Heck On Wheels , pokes a little fun at the stereotype Prius driver. Naturally, the ad features the 2016 Prius.

Buick’s Super Bowl 50 ad focused on the 2016 Cascada and starred actress Emily Ratajkowski and New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. According to the General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] brand, Ratajkowski was cast to show off the brand's stylish side and adventurous spirit while Beckham Jr. was there to represent a commitment to excellence.

Hyundai is the official sponsor of the Super Bowl, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the automaker opted for a number of spots. There were four in total plus a fifth from sister brand Kia. One of Hyundai’s ads debuting during the game was this one highlighting a new feature of the 2017 Elantra.

Another Hyundai ad debuting during the game was a little odd. It featured a world where Hyundai’s staff have tiny little engines embedded in their chests. It’s meant to signify that Hyundai’s staff are born with an engine that drives them.

Finally, there was this funny ad from Kia starring Christopher Walken. In his signature style, Walken explains the dangers of the beige sock mentality and introduces you to the not-so-bland 2016 Kia Optima.
